After a strong 20-win campaign last season, the Anadarko Lady Warriors are looking to build on that success under first-year head coach Chris Gates. With a young roster anchored by a few returning leaders from previous state tournament teams, the Lady Warriors are expected to bring intensity, scrappiness, and energy to every game this season.
The team’s strength will be its mix of experienced leadership and youthful talent. Ava Pebeahsy, the starting point guard from last year’s state tournament squad, will guide the Lady Warriors this season. “Ava is a smart, scrappy player who pushes the pace and always makes the right play,” Coach Gates said. “She will look to lead our team this year both on and off the court.”
Senior guards Jordyn Pahcoddy and Malana Amador bring veteran presence and consistency to the backcourt, while juniors True Kelley, Iliana Hernandez, Abigail Killsfirst, and Braelyn Hernandez add depth and versatility at both forward and guard positions. These returners provide a foundation for the team’s intensity and competitive mindset.
The Lady Warriors’ underclassmen will also play a significant role. Sophomores Yuli Martinez, KK Hopgood, Clessia Lonewolf, Heaven Owings, and Daydense Roulain have all shown the ability to contribute in meaningful ways, offering energy, athleticism, and skill to the rotation. Freshmen Kaidence Standing, Lilyen Smith, Sophia Palmer, and Da’jhmae Del Angel add promising talent, rounding out a roster with depth at nearly every position.
Coach Gates emphasizes that the team will rely on its scrappy style of play and unselfish effort. “This is a young team, but they play with a lot of heart and intensity,” he said. “If they stay focused, compete hard, and trust each other, we expect to be competitive in every game and make another run in the playoffs.”
With a blend of returning leaders, motivated underclassmen, and a fresh coaching perspective, the Anadarko Lady Warriors are poised for an exciting season filled with energy, growth, and plenty of hard-fought basketball.
