Anadarko’s Briana Sittingbull – Presented by The Locker Room

Meet Briana Sittingbull, a senior at Anadarko High School, whose dedication to powerlifting and tennis is matched only by her commitment to excellence. With her sights set on being the best she can be, Briana draws inspiration from her mother, Karen, whose unwavering support has propelled her forward since day one.

In the classroom, Mrs. Christina Pugh, Briana’s senior English teacher, has played a pivotal role in her academic journey. “She allows me to speak through journaling and writing,” Briana shared, highlighting Mrs. Pugh’s encouragement and guidance. To succeed in both powerlifting and tennis, Briana emphasizes the importance of staying present and not overthinking. “To be successful is to not think about the game so much and to just play,” she reflected, recognizing the strong mental aspect of her sports.

Among her many accomplishments, Briana’s proudest moment came when she pulled 305lbs on deadlift during a powerlifting competition, showcasing her strength and determination. This is an incredible feat, one that did not come without hours of dedication and practice.

In tennis, Briana finds joy in competing against rivals like Clinton, relishing the challenge and camaraderie forged on the court. “Clinton and I for tennis had so many fun matches but I always caught her at the end,” Briana recalled. Within her team, Briana values her bond with teammate Carey Haynes, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation. Additionally, Briana admires the dedication of teammate Alexis Coker, recognizing her significant improvement and commendable efforts on the tennis court.

Beyond athletics, Briana is an active member of the drama club and the Native American Indian club, where she contributes her talents and passion to various community initiatives. Looking ahead, Briana plans to attend Haskell Indian Nations University, where she will continue her education and athletic pursuits. With her sights set on the future, Briana remains committed to embodying respect and passion, both on and off the field.
