Softball isn’t just a sport for some athletes. For Libby Stone, it’s an integral part of life. Libby has been participating in softball since she was four years old. From the moment that her parents introduced her to it, she was in love. Libby is a senior at Anadarko High School and also participates in Leadership Club and Fish Club.

Libby’s favorite moment for her team is participating in the Kingfisher tournament. “We always have fun and play hard in that tournament every year,” she tells us. The highest moment in her career so far was when her team made it to regionals last year. She says “although the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, we all worked hard and had fun!”

To Libby, being a great athlete means that you have to be mentally strong, capable of learning new things, and hard working. Sports have taught her that it’s okay to fail. Her favorite part about softball is how quickly teammates become best friends and then family.

Libby’s favorite subject in school is English, because she likes writing. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Powell, because “she is always positive and motivating.” The person who’s made the biggest positive impact on Libby is her former teammate, Emma. “Emma taught me to enjoy the game, and not to be so hard on myself,” Libby says. Her biggest role model though, is her mom. Libby says that “she is the strongest person I have ever met. She always sees the good in everything.” Her grandad always keeps her motivated, he always reminds her her how good she’s doing and has been her biggest supporter through everything.

In her free time, Libby likes to hit the cages, go to the lake, and spend time with friends and family. After high school, she wants to pursue a degree in the medical field. Her advice to other athletes is to “not be so hard on yourself. I have struggled with that throughout my entire career. Enjoy the game while you can, because one day, it will all come to an end.”
